Tamarack Shuttle & Transportation Services

CHIEF MOUNTAIN SHUTTLE

This shuttle service operates inside Waterton Lakes National Park from May 15 through September 30, and runs when required.  The shuttle assists hikers who are returning or dropping off their vehicle at the Belly River trailhead parking area on the US side of the border.   It drops hikers off at the Chief Mountain Customs – Canadian parking area.

The shuttle also connects hikers to other points in Glacier Park, using a shuttle connection on the American side of Chief Mountain Border crossing. We accommodate this connection by departing at 2:30 PM from Tamarack Outdoor Outfitters in the Waterton village. This allows plenty of time to get to Chief Mountain Customs (30 K/25 min).  As we do not cross the border,  hikers can walk across the border to the US Customs parking lot, where the connecting Glacier shuttle stops to pick up connecting hikers at 3:45pm daily. You will need to reserve with this Glacier Park Shuttle at GPI Transportation Services (Phone 406-892-2525).

Hikers may want to revise their hiking plans that would include catching the shuttle at the beginning of the hike and leaving their vehicle in Waterton. There is private, free parking available at the Tamarack Outdoor Outfitters in the Waterton village.  This enables hikers to return to a waiting vehicle and eliminating the scheduling for shuttles, boats, etc. Waterton village has many accommodation and camping facilities, restaurants and visitor facilities. Check out the Waterton Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Association's website at www.explorewaterton.com.
